How to actually ride a bus in Pohang

  1. Get a transit card. Buy a T-money or Cashbee card at any convenience store (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven) for a few thousand won and load cash on it. The same card works in Seoul, Busan, everywhere.
  2. Tap on when you board, tap off when you get off. Tapping off is what keeps your transfer free — within 30 minutes you can change buses at no extra cost.
  3. A ride is roughly ₩1,500 with a card. Cash works but costs more and you need exact change; drivers do not break large notes.
  4. Check the number on the front of the bus. The same number can run in two directions, so confirm the final destination shown beside it before boarding.
  5. Press the stop button early. Announcements are in Korean and English on most buses, but the English name may differ slightly from what you typed here.
  6. Buses to outlying sights are infrequent. For Homigot, Guryongpo, Bogyeongsa and the north coast, check the last bus back before you set out.
